What We Believe

Loving God, loving others, serving the world.

WHAT WE BELIEVE:

1.  We believe that there is one and only one living and true God, the One revealed in the Old and New Testaments of the Christian Bible.  Every human owes Him the highest love, reverence, and obedience. He created the universe, controls the universe, and will bring life in the universe to end. We believe in the divine Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, each of Whom exist in full deity.

2.  We believe the Bible is the divinely inspired word of God, and it a perfect treasure for the moral instruction of humankind.

       3.  We believe that all humans are sinful and need to be saved from our sins.

       4.  We believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only true Saviour. “Neither is there salvation in

Any  other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts  4:12) Salvation occurs when one confesses his sins to God and receives, by faith, Jesus as his personal Saviour, confessing Him openly before others as Saviour and Lord. Salvation is by grace (God’s unearned favor) and not by good deeds of any kind or amount.

       5. We believe God has created a family of those who are saved, called the “church.” It has two expressions, one is the eternal church to which all the saved of all the ages belong, and the other a local church. (Because one belongs to a local church does not guarantee that he belongs to God’s eternal church.) The business of the church is to love and serve God, and to love and serve others.

       6.  We believe God has given His church two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is by immersion in water, in accordance with the meaning of the word and Biblical practice. Neither Baptism nor the Lord’s Supper is a sacrament; they are simiple acts of obedience to Christ’s command.

       7.  Although we believe every day belongs to the Lord, we know that the Bible mandates that Christians should gather on the Lord’s Day (our Sunday) for worship, in all of its expressions.  (See Hebrews 10:25)

       8. We believe God has called His church to take His gospel to the nations. His “Great Commission” states: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and , lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

       9.  We believe that every person who becomes a Christian, by doing so, sets out on a life-time of growth in the likeness of Christ.

      10.  We believe that Jesus will return to earth one day which will signal that God is bringing human history to an end. God will judge all humans and all will finally reside, forever, either in heaven or hell.
